I am still coming down from the fabulousness that was the Romance Writers of America conference in Orlando. Not only did I get some great perspective on the future of the publishing industry (hint: get your paper-based books while they last), I enjoyed some quality time with the authors and staff of my publishing house, my agent, Claudia, and my former work colleague, Camille (the lovely lady with Goofy below.) I got to sit in on a great seminar led by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, deliver the 2010 RITA for Best Paranormal Romance to my Pocket Books colleage, Kresley Cole, and share a table at the awards dinner with Stephanie Laurens and Meg Cabot. All in all, everything you could ask for.

FLIRTING WTIH FOREVER PICTURES POSTED
Aching_for_Always I am now hard at work at book #5 (working title: A Novel Seduction), and rounding the turn into promotion season for my October release, Aching for Always. However, for those of you still savoring the pleasures of Flirting with Forever, I have a treat for you. I have finally posted the photos of places and things from the story. For example, you can see the building Joss lives in and the coffee shop Peter frequented. Click here to see all things you wondered about.

WHAT DO SEX AND BEER HAVE IN COMMON (APART FROM THE OBVIOUS)?
I have also been updating the blog with the bits of research and other considerations that are going into the writing of A Novel Seduction. A lot of you like the insight into the writing process, so I'm trying to share the little things that a romance novelist faces when she's writing. One is on the different ways you can get sex into a book early (winning one points with one's editor.) I had come up with four ways. Two more particularly funny ones came out of a conversation I had over dinner with Claudia and Camille. I'd love to hear any suggestions you have. Click here for the discussion.

WIN ANOTHER BASKET OF ROMANCES--HURRY!--ENDS AUGUST 15!
vision_in_white Yep, another basket of romances! This time it's FIVE, count 'em, FIVE romance novels by Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, including a copy of Vision in White signed by Nora Roberts herself! Entering the contest this month is a little different, though. Since I'm eager to build my Facebook fan page for "Gwyn Cready, Romance Novelist," this newsletter's contest is only open to people who click "Like" button at the top of the page there by August 15. If you're a friend of "Gwyn Cready" on Facebook, you'll also have to click the "like" button at the top of the "Gwyn Cready, Romance Novelist" page to be entered. If you've already clicked the "Like" button at the top of the "Gwyn Cready, Romance Novelist" page (which you'll know because when you're on the page the "Like" button won't be there), you are automatically entered. I'll chose a winner at random from the folks there at midnight EST on August 15, 2010.

To go to the "Gwyn Cready, Romance Novelist" Facebook page to click "Like," click here. Easy as pie.

If you don't want to join Facebook or don't want to click "Like," don't be disheartened. I'll send out another contest in a week or so that you can enter in the usual way, with another basket of romance novels to win.

The winner of last month's Tote Bag Full of Romances contest was Rena Ackley. Congrats, Rena.

NEW SURVEY
This one's a good one. Do you prefer sex scenes to be done from the point of view of the hero or the heroine? Click here to vote. The last survey asked you to vote for the qualities most important in a heroine. Interestingly, two of same three qualities won for heroines as did for heroes. For heroes, the order was sense of humor (with 29% of the vote), compassion/kindness (22%) and fidelity (18%). For heroines, it was sense of humor (31%), intelligence (27%) and compassion/kindness (18%.) I'll refrain from commenting upon what that might mean about intelligence in heroes or fidelity in heroines : )

Ta ta for now, and enjoy the rest of the summer.
